JC Alcantara enjoys his new role as a drag queen

Doing LGBTQ roles onscreen is nothing new to JC Alcantara.He starred with Tony Labrusca in the 2020 digital series <a href="https://ent.abs-cbn.com/hellostranger">Hello Stranger</a> where he became known as one of the country&rsquo;s rising new heartthrobs.This year, JC takes on the role of a drag queen in the upcoming iWant series Drag You &amp; Me&nbsp;which starts streaming on June 2.&ldquo;Ako dito si Jason, isang mapagmahal na kuya at ibibigay lahat para sa kapatid ko and takot ako umamin kasi puro mga maton yung family ko at galit sila sa mga part ng LGBT. So bilang Jason, merong Shaniah na malaya sa kalungkutan bilang Jason. At dun ko din na-meet si Betty (Andrea Brillantes). Kasi tumawag ako sa kanila, sabi nila, &lsquo;Sino ka?&rsquo; (laughs) Tuwang tuwa sila. Supportive sila, as in. Kahit anong role ko, sobrang happy nila kasi meron na akong trabaho. Sabi ko kasi sa mama ko mag-da-drag ako. Drag queen, sabi kong ganun. Akala ko normal na lang siya so makeup lang. Pero hindi pala. As in from paa hanggang ulo kailangan mo mag-transform.&ldquo;So sobrang hirap kasi hindi ako sanay mag-heels, hindi rin ako sanay mag-stockings tapos nagpapaltos pa yung paa ko after nun pag nakatayo kami ng magdamag. Nag-te-twerk pa ako (laughs).&rdquo;&nbsp;He further added, &ldquo;Sa hair yung wig namin sobrang hirap talaga ang pinagdadaanan ng drag queen kaya sobrang saludo kami sa kanila. Kaya sana pahalagahan din natin ngayon, lalo na ngayon na nalaman ko rin na ganito pala kahirap yung mga transformation nila from normal to drag.&ldquo;Na-discover ko yung effort at time nila sa sarili nila. Yung effort nila mag-transform at yung talent nila bilang isang drag queen. All in siya eh. Acting, sayaw, isip, at saka kailangan witty ka. Kailangan talaga siya.&ldquo;Sobrang challenging din para sa akin kasi first time ko nga rin lip sync on the spot din. So hindi rin namin alam yung kanta. Pero nung nag-drag ako, gagalaw ako ng kahit ano kasi hindi mo ako makilala. Kakaibang tao ka. As in na-enjoy ko bilang Shaniah na sige gawin ko lahat kasi iba na ako, mas confident ako.
