Iyah Mina said he experienced his first heartbreak with his first live-in partner.

As part of the talented cast of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) LGBTQ-themed entry Broken Hearts Trip, Iyah Mina said he is both thankful and proud of their project.

The film was shot in various scenic destinations in the country like Cebu, Ilocos Norte, Batangas, and Laguna.

Kasi lahat tayo nasasaktan at naghihilom,” he shared.

In the Lemuel Lorca-directed film, Iyah plays the role of one of five brokenhearted LGBTQ individuals who are given a chance to heal in some of the most beautiful places in the country through a reality travel show hosted by Christian Bables.

“Ako naman dito si Bernie dito sa pelikula, isang konteserang laging first runner up at never naging title holder. Merong jowa na si Argel Saycon, ang aking live-in partner dito at dun na tatakbo ang kuwento,” he explained.

In real life, Iyah said he is the type to reminisce when trying to get over an old love.

Iyah shared that he experienced his first real heartbreak when he was in his late teens.

“It was my first live-in partner for four years. And then habang masaya ang relasyon, ang pinakamasakit is dun sa four years namin, twice lang kami nag-s**. 'Pag nag-ho-hormones ka kasi, wala kang urge, wala kang libog sa katawan so wala akong gaan sa mga ganung bagay," he shared.

He went on: "So nung time na 'yun, nagpapaalam na siya while we’re making love. Masakit kasi naka-move on na ako tapos bumalik ulit."

Yung ganun, baliw, ganun. Tapos maglalaba. Kasi gawain namin maglalaba, magsasampay. Ginawa ko 'yun. Pagkatuyo laba ulit. Para maka-move on. Matagal na 'yun. Bagets pa ako nun, mga 17, 18,” he continued.

The Broken Hearts Trip actor said he feels thankful to get the chance to work closely with his talented co-stars like Christian Bables and Jaclyn Jose.

Iyah admitted that getting noticed again for an MMFF acting award would just be icing on the cake.

Generous sila kaya naibigay ng tama yung hinihiling ni direk," he said.

Ang bait bait niya," he added.

"Itong film, kahit ma-nominate lang ako it’s okay. Meron ng gender sensitivity,” he continued. .

Broken Hearts Trip is written by Archie Del Mundo and produced by Benjie Cabrera, Omar Tolentino, Power Up Workpool Inc., BMC Films, and Smart Films.

Catch Broken Hearts Trip as part of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival starting December 25 in cinemas nationwide.
