As a transgender actress, Angela Trajano considered her being cast in a lead role in the Love Bites episode “Hearts of Pride” as a big responsibility. In the story, she is partnered with Kristof Garcia.

“Actually it was for it was very, very flattering and at the same time it feels surreal kasi as a transgender it’s really rare for us to be seen on acting, do shows. So para sa akin, sobrang napaka meaningful nito that I was given a chance by direk Dado (Lumibao). So ginawa ko lahat ng best ko dito. Binigay ko ng buong buo, yung sobrang authentic, sobrang transparent and sobrang genuine ko. And at the same time naka-relate kasi ako sa story. Nag-match then nagmahal then umiyak tapos nagmahal ulit. Ganun,” she said.

Admittedly new when it comes to acting, Angela shared why she is grateful to Love Bites director Dado Lumibao for casting her in the role.

“Sobrang nagpapasalamat ako kay direk Dado kasi never ko na-feel sa kanya na less of a person ako kasi I don’t have any workshop but I was chosen to represent our community. So it was a very big deal to me na it’s for everyone, it’s for our community na and that we should be recognized and we should feel worthy as a human,” she shared.

After working on the show, Angela also shared what realizations she had learned from the story and what message they want to convey.

“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam magmahal. Because love is boundless and love knows no gender. So it’s time now where we could change and apply our diversity. And at the same time, recognizing our existence that we are also human. That we could love and we could be someone worth fighting for. Ang sarap sa pakiramdam na mahalin. Sa atin kasing mga transgender kasi, when love comes, we give everything. Sobrang napaka-selfless natin eh. And there are times na nakakalimutan na natin yung sarili natin. And from those lessons from the past and gagamitin natin siya as preparation sa mga susunod,” she explained.

Having portrayed a transgender woman onscreen, Angela hopes people can be more open-minded when it comes to the concept of love.

“Sa society natin, we are labeled when a man loves a transwoman, lagi nilang sinasabi na bakla din yan, na you’re not straight. But you are just loving a person. It’s not because of his or her gender, but as a human being. Yun yung pinakamahalaga kasi sa lahat. Mahalin natin yung tao kasi genuine yung pinapakita niya. Mahalin natin yung tao kasi mahal natin siya. Love is very unfathomable, it is immeasurable. Kaya kung nagmahal tayo at naramdaman natin yun, mag-celebrate tayo kasi the world is already problematic. And what we need to do is to love, to be happy, and to spread positivity. That’s the most important thing,” she admitted.
