Last month, Ruffa Gutierrez revealed that she had finally graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts from the Philippine Women’s University under the school’s Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). Last September 2, the 48-year-old actress and celebrity mom finally got to attend her graduation ceremony along with her batchmates in Manila.
In an interview with her alma mater, Ruffa shared, “At this moment I’m very excited, I’m very proud. Talagang graduate na ako. I’m really a degree holder. I realize that you can graduate at any age. For me you know, education is very important. Gusto ko magsilbing inspirasyon sa mga anak ko, for Lorin and Venice. As a single mom, I worked so hard. Nag-stop ako after high school kasi I made the most of my opportunities that were coming my way back then. But it’s never too late to go back to school.”
On her Instagram account, Ruffa posted a video montage from her graduation with her proudly wearing her robe.
She wrote, “’A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.’ - LAO TZU. Philippine Women’s University 99th Commencement Exercises earlier today at PICC.
“Congratulations to my fellow PWU graduates! I’ll post official pics tonight. #ToGodBeTheGlory #CollegeGraduate #Unstoppable”

It was in 2021 when Ruffa first announced she was returning to school to get a degree. She wrote in a previous post, “After 34 years of working in the entertainment industry, I have chosen to further my education. Not only do I want to fulfill a long-held dream and take control of the next chapter of my life, I want to set a good example for my children.”
After getting her degree, Ruffa revealed she is currently doing her Master’s degree. “Kung sakaling gusto ko mag-quit sa pagiging artista ko, I can do other things because I’m now knowledgeable.”
Ruffa is part of the cast of the fictional drama Maid in Malacañang where she plays the role of former first lady Imelda Marcos. She is currently seen on the ABS-CBN noontime variety show It’s Showtime.
