With her return to the country’s longest running anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya again last month, actress Heaven Peralejo revealed just how lucky she felt always being invited to do different episodes especially because it gives her an avenue to flex her dramatic talent.
“I think, kung hindi ako nagkakamali, this is my fourth or fifth. “Yung MMK kasi iba yung puso, iba lahat. Physically ilang araw lang kami and talagang bakbakan and kailangan bigyan ng justice. But I still think na papunta pa lang ako dun, madami pa akong pagdadaanan kumbaga. Siguro hindi naman dahil naka-MKK na ako, I can call myself as an actress,” she explained.
The 22-year-old Kapamilya actress said she has never turned down an offer from the show since her first episode in 2016 in a small supporting role.
“I always say yes to MMK because one, of course nakaka-challenge yung mga binibigay nilang roles. You get to challenge yourself, you get to push your limits also. Suwerte sa akin yung MMK kasi every time na nag-e-MMK ako, dire-diretso na yung blessing ko afterwards. So sana every year may MMK ako (laughs). Aside from that, it’s the team, you get to work with different actors and directors and I’m just happy and lucky na binigyan nila ako ng platform to showcase my creativity,” she admitted.
Having to play different roles based on real people, Heaven revealed how she is able to flesh out her character even if she has never experienced their story in real life.
“When I act a role or a different character, parang blank slate talaga. Parang mino-mold ko siya depending on the character and the story. So I don’t come on the set as Heaven, I come on set as the character. So yung hugot is from also the characters life. So I guess that’s my hugot.
“I always feel that there is anxiety especially pag bagong scenes yung mga ginagawa ko. But you have to trust the people you’re working with and just let it flow. And you trusted yourself and I think that’s way more important than thinking of the lines,” she shared.
Looking back on her experience during the pandemic, Heaven also shared how it has changed or improved her as a person.
“I think this year ko lang din na-discover of how important it is to take care of your health and your gut. Kasi di ba si Mommy medyo mababa ang immune system and ayoko din naman na ganun din ang mangyari sa akin since health is wealth. Sayang yung pinagtatrabahuan nating lahat kung mapupunta lang din sa ospital. So ngayon work lang ng work and balance lang with my lifestyle and work,” she said.
