After launching her YouTube channel, veteran actress Maricel Soriano has been sharing more of her life behind the camera with videos showing a lighter side of the country’s Diamond star. In her vlog posted last September 10, Maricel shared what happened when she visited the studio of actress Ciara Sotto who is also a pole dancer and teacher.
On her self-titled YouTube channel, Maricel wrote the caption for her vlog addressing her followers whom she lovingly refers to as “anak”.
Before starting the lesson, the 57-year-old actress admitted her hesitation trying out the new sport, but Ciara comforted her by reminding her about her dancing roots. During her younger years, Maricel was also known as a dancing queen who made popular her moves while dancing to popular ‘80s songs like “Body Dancer” and “Rico Mambo”.
In the vlog, Maricel referred to her body type as “payat pero may bilbil naman.” To which Ciara said, “Every body of a woman is beautiful. Strong women tayo, fearless women, so kaya natin ito.”

The pair started the workout with a warm up that included some stretching followed by some beginner drills. While teaching the Diamond Star, Ciara also shared how she got started into pole dancing while living in the US.
“Kasi nung nakatira ako sa (Las) Vegas, meron kaming weight requirement nung may show kami. So pole dancing will increase your flexibility, tone your muscles, and help with your endurance and stamina. Tapos it will strengthen your core, whether you like it or not,” she shared.
After Ciara showed Maricel the basic beginner moves and demonstrated the more complicated ones, the Diamond star could not contain her admiration for the skill that was shown and also shared some words of wisdom for her fans.
“Ang ganda panuorin anak. Oh my God, ang galing!
Maricel was last seen in the 2021 ABS-CBN teleserye Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin where she played the role of Lucinda "Lucing" Dela Cruz-Pineda alongside co-stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Iza Calzado, and Sam Milby.
