Andi Eigenmann has taken her love for surfing a notch higher as she joined her first-ever surfing competition on Monday, September 12.
In her Instagram Stories update, the actress happily shared that she made it to Round 2 of the 7th Pacifico Local Surfing Competition, which is held in Siargao where she is now based.
“I joined my first comp today, and made it to round 2! Hihi sooo happy!” she wrote.
She then thanked her “mahal”, surfing champion Philmar Alipayo, for his support.
Despite being based in Siargao with Philmar and their kids since 2018, it was only recently that Andi learned how to surf.
In an earlier post, Andi shared her joy that she is now “living the surfing dreams of my 11-year-old self.”
“Getting into it in my late 20s, I thought for a bit that maybe since having 2 more kids its good enough for me to have been able to try, and that now is the time to stop. I can watch the kids surf instead, because it's just too late to get good at it,” wrote the actress, who has two children with Philmar, Lilo and Koa, and one with her former partner Jake Ejercito, Ellie.
“I kept going anyway, because it made me happy, and it made me feel ME. And now I realize that surfing (more) at 32 has been an even more meaningful experience to me. It's never really too late to learn new things or hone a skill, and even more so to achieve a childhood dream,” she continued.
“It's a simple thing but it's so fulfilling. Somehow I feel like learning something new at this point, brings new meaning and a whole new energy and excitement for life! I can't wait to be in my 50s (hopefully) still doing this together with papa and the kids!”
Andi’s partner, Philmar, is considered as one of the best surfers in the country, after making history as the first winner of the Philippine Surfing Championship Tour in the men's division in 2017.
The two have been engaged since December 2020.
