Paolo Ballesteros once again wowed pageant fans with his latest design for a Binibining Pilipinas 2022 candidate's national costume.
Following his suman and Higantes-inspired creations, the actor-host designed a new national costume inspired by the tikbalang, a popular mythical creature in Philippine folklore that is part-human, part-horse.
He created the costume for Graciella Lehmann, who is representing her hometown Oriental Mindoro in the national pageant.
In his recent Instagram post, Paolo shared the details of his design for Graciella's national costume, along with his original sketch.
"This tikbalang national costume is fashioned with intertwined branches of the Balete tree that forms the horse head and butterfly sleeves, and hugs the body down to its hooves as to conceal the creature's looming presence," he wrote.
"Sheets of translucent, ghostly white fabric are decoratively draped as its beguiling mane and tail that dance with the wind as it lurks in the shadows. The body is adorned in lace, with white pearls and rhinestones flickering like diamonds," he added.
The Binibining Pilipinas 2022 coronation night will be held this July 31 at the Araneta Coliseum.
The winners will succeed Hannah Arnold for Miss International, Cindy Obenita for Miss Intercontinental, and Maureen Montagne for Miss Globe.
