Gigi de Lana
Kapamilya singer and actress Gigi de Lana revealed that one of her all-time favorite movies to watch over and over again is the Bohemian Rhapsody. Starring Rami Malek as the main protagonist Freddie Mercury, Bohemian Rhapsody is based on the life story of iconic band Queen’s main vocalist.
“Bohemian Rhapsody is a personal favorite because throughout the film, it was like watching history being made – I saw how they composed some of their biggest hits, their struggles as a band and as individuals, how they used their life experiences to write their songs,” she said.
“And the recreation of the Live Aid performance was nothing short of amazing! It felt like I was there and the total euphoria of hearing them sing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ still gives me the chills after several rewatches!”
Bohemian Rhapsody is available on HBO GO.
Kapamilya young actress and singer Angela Ken revealed she’s a huge KathNiel fan. When asked about the show that she loves to binge-watch, she lightheartedly replied, “Ngayon po, araw-araw, gabi-gabi, 2 Good 2 Be True.”
As the series is still ongoing, she added, “Kaya nabibitin po ‘yung kilig ko gabi-gabi. Nakakabitin po ‘yung kilig pero nakakaexcite po kasi kinabukasan, meron ka naman nang aabangan, ‘yung ganon po.”
If she would be given the opportunity to work with her idols Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, Angela said that she would definitely embrace it. “Nako po, yayakapin ko po ng mahigpit na mahigpit ‘yung opportunity na ‘yun.”
Jairus Aquino raved about the dark comedy series Barry. The 23-year-old actor said, “What I love about Barry is its premise — it’s a show about a depressed hitman who wants to change his life and become an actor instead–and how they mixed violence and comedy in the script.
“Not only that, but they also created this crazy combination of characters that will always get a chuckle out of you even when they are trying to kill each other. Bill Hader (creator and actor) is great as the emotionless and often awkward hitman Barry but, personally, NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan) with all his oddball shenanigans will always be my personal favorite,” he said.
Barry is available on HBO GO via PLDT Home.
KD Estrada said that watching movies and series is one of his bonding moments with love team partner Alexa Ilacad. He shared that they are currently watching episodes of the American action fiction series The Umbrella Academy. “Umbrella Academy ang pinapanood namin ngayon,” he said in a recent interview.
A hit sci-fi show, The Umbrella Academy stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan and more. It currently streams on Netflix.
If there is a series that sisters Almira, Irene, Mylene and Celina Cercado of 4th Impact all love, it would be the Korean hit show Crash Landing On You. “Crash Landing On You – ‘yun talaga ‘yung sinubaybayan namin magkakapatid,” they said.
Also known as CLOY, this Netflix hit starred real-life couple Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin.
Actor Troy Montero is currently enthralled by the HBO GO crime drama series Tokyo Vice.
“Tokyo Vice is an interesting look into Japan — where organized crime (yakuza) and the police work together to form this tenuous balance,” he said.
“The series is the perfect neo-noir thriller for when you want to have your mind blown by plot twists. The best part? It has amazingly crafted characters, and Ken Watanabe as senior detective Hiroto Katagiri is both complex and badass. He is easily my favorite,” Troy added.
