Long before she won a Best Actress award for her 2020 MMFF film Fan Girl, Charlie Dizon was once pursuing her dreams of becoming a K-pop idol. The 26-year-old actress, who recently starred in the series Viral Scandal earlier this year, even had a short stint as a K-pop trainee in South Korea. This year, with Filipino-Argentinian actress Chantal Videla making her debut as a K-Pop idol u as one of the members of their MLD Entertainment-managed girl group LAPILLUS, Charlie admits she could not be happier for her fellow Pinay.

“Super happy ako na na-launch si Chantal kasi yun din yung dream ko dati and nakita ko yung journey niya kung paano siya pumasok sa Kpop world. As in minessage niya ako before tapos pina-check niya sa akin yung contract na in-offer sa kanya, if ganun ba talaga. And ngayon na na-launch na siya ang saya saya ko. Para akong proud ate kasi ka-batch ko siya nung ni-launch kami ng Star Magic 2018. And also yung MLD, yung company niya, mini-message din ako if I can help na i-promote si Chantal, ganyan. Nung mga times na nilalabas pa lang siya sa mga music video, yung hinid pa siya nilo-launch talaga as  kpop idol,” she said during the Beyond the Stars: Star Magic US Tour  media launch.

Even if it’s been a while since she performed with a girl groun on stage, Charlie admitted she has not closed her doors on pursuing a career in South Korea if given the opportunity. “Siguro ngayon kung bibigyan ako ng chance maging kpop ido, nahihiya ako kasi hindi ko alam kung kaya ko pa yung training nila kasi sobrang tagal talaga and ang haba ng training. Pero if given a chance na ma-launch ako, why not di ba? Siguro more of kdrama actress na lang, ganun,” she shared.

With the Beyond the Stars: Star Magic US Tour kicking off this August, Charlie will be joined by fellow kapamilya artists like  Belle Mariano, Donny Pangilinan, Andrea Brillantes, Gigi De Lana, Carlo Aquino, Maris Racal, BGYO, Edward Barber, Maymay Entrata, Janine Berdin, Kyle Echarri, Kim Chiu, Eric Nicolas, Alexa Ilacad, KD Estrada, Charlie Dizon, Zanjoe Marudo, AC Bonifacio, Liam Kaila, Sab, Angela Ken in the three-city US tour.
