Lorin Gutierrez finally shared with her followers a glimpse of her recent trip to Turkey, where she and her sister Venice reunited with their father Yilmaz Bektas after 15 years.
The almost 30-minute video, which she uploaded on her YouTube channel on Monday, July 18, shows what happened after the sisters arrived in Istanbul and reunited with their Turkish family.
Towards the end of her vlog, Lorin thanked all those who showed their support to her family on this significant milestone in their lives.
"I want to say with me posting about this slightly on my Instagram, my mom posting some clips of it on her Instagram before this vlog, I've gotten so much love. So thank you for anyone who has given their kind words," she said.
The eldest daughter of Ruffa Gutierrez also shared her reaction to negative opinions of netizens regarding the matter.
"I also have seen a lot of comments online of people kind of, I guess, talking in a way that doesn't reflect the fact that this entire journey actually has something to do with real-life people, and that we're not a fan fiction or a movie or a TV show where you can watch and comment from afar as if you know everything or as if it's so simple. Like, it's really not black and white," she said.
"Usually I shrug off all negativity or whatever because, you know, it's always going to be there. But if it's actually something to do with something so personal to my life, I'm just here asking. Like yes, we decided to share this part of our lives with you because the split between my mom and dad was very public, I know that comes along with it, but please ... just be careful and be sensitive and what you do comment because this is possible the most monumental moments of my life thus far."
Ending her vlog, Lorin shared her hope that her family's story of forgiveness and healing will serve as an inspiration to those who are in a similar situation.
"It is possible. Like, it is possible. There were definitely moments in my life where I was convinced, I didn't know when I was going to see my father's side again. I didn't know if I was ever even gonna touch Turkey. And the fact that suddenly I'm at a point where I'm on good speaking terms with my father and my father's side, and him and my mom are entering this new chapter of co-parenting, if you told me this five years ago, I would not have believed you in my wildest dreams," she said.
"If there's anyone out there and one of your parents or a family member ... isn't in your life and you guys aren't on the best of terms, I want you to know that it is possible to heal those relationships. It is possible to move forward, it is possible to grow. Even when it feels like it's impossible, the right people will come back into your life in God's perfect timing."
Currently, Lorin's vlog is the 26th trending video on YouTube Philippines, with more than 330,000 views and 15,000 "likes."
