As Miss Philippines Earth is set to announce the next representative of the country for the Miss Earth 2022 pageant, one candidate announced on her social media that she would no longer be eligible to continue the pageant due to the height requirement.

Miss Philippines Earth candidate Angela Okol took to Instagram last July 14 to announce that she had been disqualified by the organization.

“Many have been sending messages and well wishes regarding the Top 20 announcement for Miss Philippines Earth tomorrow. However, I, unfortunately, have to tell you all that I will no longer be able to push through with this journey,” she shared.

According to the Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte candidate, she was informed that her height didn’t meet the standards of the pageant and the organization would be bashed if she was allowed to continue her Miss Philippines Earth journey.

“My family, team, and I have worked hard to build up all the materials and requirements for this pageant since earlier this year. However, we seem to have forgotten about one factor—my height.

“I was told that my height does not fit their pageant’s standards and that their organization would get bashed if they let someone below 5’4” push through the Top 20, hence, being grounds for disqualification,” she continued.

While it is unfortunate that she won’t be able to go further in the pageant, she held no grudges towards the organizers and told her supporters that this isn’t the end.

“I hold nothing against Miss Philippines Earth’s environmental advocacies and queens, and I am still grateful for the opportunity given to me,” she shared.
