After breaking her silence online regarding the issue that she had indiscriminately fired two of her househelp without paying them their salaries, Ruffa Gutierrez has sought the help of legal counsel regarding those who have been spreading unverified information about her online. This included P3PWD Representative and former COMELEC Commissioner Rowena Guanzon who tagged her on Twitter regarding the issue.

In an official statement released by her lawyer, Atty. Bryant Gamonnac Casiw of the BGC Law Office, they reiterated the actress’s earlier statement of having “neither fired her helpers nor refused to pay their remaining pay for six days.” The statement, which was released on July 11, denounces the online issue as “This fake news is a black propaganda/ smear campaign against our Client as she is playing the character of former First Lady Imelda Marcos in an upcoming movie.”

The statement also chronicled what happened to lead to the two workers to unexpectedly leave the Gutierrez home earlier this month. “While our Client was away for work on July 7, 2022, the Helpers became unruly and turned berserk. They persistently called our Client that they have decided to quit since they could no longer cope with the taping and shooting schedules of our Client. They have caused a commotion and were in a hurry to leave the house, without first complying with the clearance requirements of the village association.”

Aside from leaving her employ without asking permission from her personally, Ruffa also revealed that the two former househelp also broke their signed agreement upon employment. The statement read, “The Helpers violated the Confidentiality, Non-Disclosure, and Working Agreement that they signed on 12 June 2022 with their unauthorized taking of Confidential Information under the agreement. Their acts endangered the safety, security, and privacy of our Client and her family. It was also discovered that the Helpers made arrangements to transfer employment to a neighbor in the village.”

Atty. Gamonnac Casiw also wrote that Ruffa does not wish ill on the two helpers. “Our Client has always been very generous with, and compassionate to those who work for and with her, giving them bonuses and tips for extra hours worked. Most of her helpers have been with her family for 13 to 35 years now and they can vouch that our Client treats helpers with fairness, care, love, and respect that they deserve. She considers helpers as part of her family. Our Client will explore all legal actions and remedies available, especially against those spreading unverified information / fake news.”
