Former beauty queen Sandra Lemonon — who gave birth to her first child Zaiah Rafael Mercado last June 21 —  shared her birthing experience.

Sandra took to Instagram to give her followers more details of the process she had gone through as she gave birth.

“From wanting & preparing for a natural home/water birth to an emergency C-section just hours after our casual 41-week Ob appointment,” Sandra shared.

Having had an emergency Cesarean operation was something Sandra didn’t expect to happen to her. She admitted that it was one of those things she feared and didn’t prepare for. But even after everything that’s happened, she said she considers it one of the favorite memories that have ever happened to her.

“How scared I was to have my first surgery, that baby Z wasn’t ‘safe’ in my womb anymore & how I wasn’t prepared mentally/emotionally & physically for what was about to happen,” she said.

The 27-year-old former beauty queen also praised her fiancé, basketball player Sol Mercado, in her post. She thanked him for being steady and reliable even when she was having a meltdown already due to the situation.

“You never left my side nor ever once complained about anything. I still cannot believe how you watched the operation from start to finish 🥺😂 & lied to me that you couldn’t see what was happening when you obviously could 🤪 while remaining super calm, holding my hand & playing me some music,” she added.

Even when all these were happening in her life, Sandra found the strength in her to power through her pregnancy journey. According to her, she had to build her courage and accept that all these were part of the process to ensure her and her baby’s safety.

“It reminded me that anything & everything can happen/change in an instant… & how little control we actually have in some situations… the only thing we do have control over is how we perceive/look & react to it,” Sandra shared.

Back in March, Sandra and Sol announced that they were expecting their first baby together. This came after the couple announced their engagement.
