Arjo Atayde takes oath as a new Congressman of Quezon City

Actor-turned-politician Arjo Atayde recently took his oath as the representative of the first district of Quezon City in the House of Representatives. His mother, Sylvia Sanchez, and sister, Ria Atayde, took to their respective Instagram accounts to congratulate him. 



Sylvia was proud of her son for winning a seat in Congress on his first try. The actress was overjoyed to see her son succeeding in the career he chose for himself. 

“Ikaw na ang official na nakaupo bilang Congressman ng Distrito Uno🙏💪😘❤️ walang mapagsidlan ang kagalakan ko sa tagumpay mo. Pinaglaban mo ang gusto mo, ang laman ng pusot isip mo at pinatunayan mong tama ka💪💪💪

Meanwhile, Ria, who was present at the oath taking ceremony of her brother, shared some photos after the ceremony. She was also extremely happy for her brother who topped the race and beat re-electionist Rep. Onyx Crisologo.

“Will literally be beside you every step of the way and already so proud of what you’ve done even before being elected…[I] can't wait to see what else you’ll do. Love you,” Ria wrote. 

Sylvia also added in her lengthy caption, that the whole family will be behind the actor’s decisions. The veteran actress also gave her followers a glimpse of what she and Arjo talked about at the onset of the elections where the actor was getting bombarded with hate and fake news.

“Mommy, wag tayong sumabay sa pambabastos nila, hindi tayo tulad nila. Basta ako andito tumakbo dahil gusto ko makatulong sa kapwa ko at mas makakatulong ako pag nasa pwesto ako. I don't want to be a good politician, I want to be a Good Public Servant.” 

Prior to his bid for public office, Arjo also kept busy with his acting career. The actor just wrapped up taping scenes for the ABS-CBN international series Cattleya Killer with fellow actor Jake Cuenca.
