Darren Espanto aims to venture into the international scene as an artist.
In an interview in Showtime Online U, the 21-year-old singer shared that he was able to take the first step in making this dream happen by collaborating with English artist Calum Scott recently.
"My ambitions? I mean unti-unti na siyang natutupad ng hindi ko ini-expect. For example, to have an international collaboration. But yeah, I hope to release more music soon internationally and also achieve siguro international recognition as well," he remarked.
Darren also shared that he wants to finish his college education and put up a business someday.
"And also kung hindi showbiz-related, 'yung makapatapos po ng college... I am looking forward to doing business po siguro, parang feeling ko magagamit ko," he relayed.
Darren collaborated with Calum for the latter's remix of his latest single "Heaven."
In a report by MYX Global earlier in June, Darren expressed his elation collaborating with Calum for the Philippine remix of the song.
"I'm really excited about the collab. I've been listening to Calum since he officially released 'Dancing On My Own' after his Britain's Got Talent journey. One of my favorite songs to sing is 'You Are The Reason.' Now, I have the opportunity to collaborate with him on his song and showcase the track with other artists across Southeast Asia. I hope to perform this track with Calum live on stage someday!" he stated.
Darren rose to stardom after joining The Voice Kids Philippines in 2014.
He first released his self-titled debut album Darren in 2014. In 2016, he released his albums Be With Me and D's Christmas.
Among his hit singles include "In Love Ako Sa’yo," "Starlight," and "Sasagipin Kita," among others.
