In her Instagram post, Kris Aquino revealed that she has been diagnosed with Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA). This disease is caused by an inflammation that occurs in certain types of cells in the blood or in the tissue.

“I'll miss you- my friends & followers very much. Time is now my enemy, naghahabol kami hoping na wala pang permanent damage to the blood vessels leading to my heart,” she wrote in her caption.

According to the Queen of all Media, her attending physician, Dr. Niño Gavino, successfully diagnosed her and found what was really going on with her body. In her post, Dr. Niño explained what tests the actress has been going through in order to determine what type of disease she has.

“We reviewed all her medical history and records from the Philippines and Singapore and made a primary working diagnosis of EGPA, based on her adult-onset asthma, high count of eosinophils (more than 10%), paranasal sinusitis, transient pulmonary infiltrates… Confirmatory reports of EGPA came out late evening of April 28,” the doctor shared.

Kris added that she will be seeking medical treatment in the US after months of postponing her trip due to her fluctuating blood pressure. Her two sons, Josh and Bimby, will be staying in the Philippines while she flies abroad.

“For now and the next few years- sadly, it’s goodbye. Praying na kayanin ng katawan ko itong matinding pagsubok,” she said.

According to her doctor, the life expectancy for this condition, if left untreated, is at about 25-percent. Meanwhile, if there is proper medical treatment, the five-year survival rate is at 62-percent. The condition Kris has is so rare as it only happens to one person in every one million.
