Almost after a year of publicly coming out as a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Raymond Gutierrez showed off his boyfriend on his Instagram on Saturday, June 25. Mond proudly introduced his boyfriend, Robert William, while the Pride Parade was happening in the country.
“Celebrate your love! Happy Pride, Philippines 🇵🇭🏳️🌈,” he proudly wrote.
In a vlog posted by celebrity dermatologist and TV personality Vicki Belo last June 23, Mond shared how he met his boyfriend in Los Angeles.
As for coming out, Mond also shared that it wasn’t easy for him to come out to his best friends. He also had a hard time in accepting who he really was and it took him so many years for him to accept that he is part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
“Sometimes you tend to tell your secrets to your new friends because you’re scared that your old friends will judge you,” he shared. Georgina Wilson, one of his closest friends, was the second person he came out to.
Mond then went on to share and confirm with everyone that he is currently in a romantic relationship.
“We met at a dinner, we had a common friend that was visiting from Miami so that friend hosted a dinner and we just happened to sit beside each other,” he shared.
During the dinner party, Mond shared in the vlog that he already felt the instant connection between him and his non-showbiz boyfriend. The connection and chemistry was what he was looking for in a partner which was why he stayed single for a long time.
“We had chemistry and the connection was there and that's not something that you get that quickly and that feeling you don't really get it so fast. I've met a lot of amazing guys in LA but that instant connection was not there,” he added.
According to him, they have been together for six months. Mond joked with Dr. Vicki that six months is already six years in the gay dating scene. Mond also shared that they come from different career backgrounds as his boyfriend is from the world of law while he is in the entertainment industry.
“You have to really seek out and open up and you’ll be surprised that the people that love you will not change the way they feel about you just because you are part of the LGBTQ community. If I can do it, so can you,” he closed.
