Kim Chiu spent her afternoon last Thursday, June 16, doing advocacy work with children. On her Instagram, the actress reflected on her actions before going to Center of Hope, the place where she gave back to the children.
“On my way here, I was complaining about personal stuff and things. Minor stuff, petty stuff na akala ko mabigat, but the minute I step foot in this place, hearing their stories, I watch them dance and sing beautiful songs, most especially yung kantang kinompose nila together,” she wrote.
Kim was invited by one of the brands that she is endorsing to come spend the afternoon in the place and listen to the stories of the children who welcomed her with open arms. The 32-year-old actress became emotional upon hearing some of the stories and dreams the children shared with her.
“After hearing those songs, a kid approached me and asked me if she could hug me and bigla niyang nakwento briefly yung pinag daanan niya, and all she needs is a hug. After that pinag message ako. Nakakahiya sa mga bata pero, I cried,” she added.
The performance of the kids left Kim emotional as she couldn’t stop the tears coming down. After hearing the song that the kids themselves composed, it was clearer for the Pinoy Big Brother host what the song meant to the children.
“The song hit me in a way nilalaban ko yung tears ko. It's about their dreams, what they want in life, and what they learned,” she opened up.
The actress found strength in these children as she saw them smiling despite the things that have happened to them in the past. She saw how strong these children were and Kim very much drew inspiration from them.
“Masasabi ko talaga walang wala yung pinagdadaanan ko sa pinagdadaanan nila. I told them they inspire me and hindi sila pinapabayaan ng Panginoon, malakas sila, and they will grow as strong independent women who will conquer the world and inspire more people with their stories,” she shared.
