After working together on several taping cycles for the popular primetime drama series Viral Scandal, the cast members of the show have grown closer as a family on and off camera already. As the show enters its finale week this month, some of the series stars reveal just how close they are to their own mothers in real life.

Jake Cuenca

“With all these controversies, one secret weapon I’ve always had no matter what, no matter ano man sinasabi ng tao sa akin, no matter how twisted they get the story sometimes, one person that’s always there by my side is my mom.

“To be honest kulang na kulang pa. Everything that I’ve done in my life is not enough for me to show my love for my mom. Kasi she’s one person for me na no matter what happens, no matter what heartbreak or incident, scandal, whatever viral issue that is out there, one person who is by my side is my mom.

“When it comes to these issues, I think the most important thing is to surround yourself with people who know you the best. The people who will give you unbiased advice on how to handle things and for me that’s my mom.”

Ria Atayde

“Now the most distinct way I feel my mom’s love is the way she’s helping me move out. Next week I’m going to be living on my own already. For the first time, I’m going to be independent already and it took her five years para payagan ako to move out. Pero ngayon siya yung tumutulong sa akin bumili ng appliances. Siya yung tumitingin pag libre siya. So that’s how I know that she loves me right now. It now something she wants but because she knows it’s something I said I need and she’s respecting it and embracing it and celebrating it even.”

Aljon Mendoza

“Kasi lagi kong ka-video call yung nanay ko kasi nasa Manila ako mag-isa. So every time na magkausap kami, yung mga simpleng I love you bago mag-good night, nakikita ko na na-a-appreciate niya yun. Kasi dati nahihirapan ako, nahihiya akong mag-I love you sa kanya. So ayun, na-e-express ko na.

“At saka napansin ko sa nanay ko, gustong gusto niya yung kailangan ko siya. Kasi minsan gusto niyang tupiin yung damit ko tapos sasabihin ko, ‘Ako na lang.’  Tapos sasabihin niya, ‘Ah sige hindi mo na pala ako kailangan.’ Gaganun siya (laughs). Gustong gusto niya yung kailangan siya at saka sweet kasi sweet yung nanay ko.”

Markus Paterson

“I support her in every way possible. She’s exploring now. She’s running for vice mayor and I’m going to go down and help her campaign. So hindi ko pa nagawa yun. Sorry mom pupunta ako diyan sa Pangasinan. Hahabol ako. Anything she does, I’m there with her. I’m one call away and she’s one call away too.”

Aya Fernandez

“Ang unang pumasok sa isip ko yung kanta ng Ben&Ben. It kind of feels weird kasi you don’t really have to prove that you love someone. But siguro one of the indications of real and true love is kapag pipiliin mo yung tao araw-araw and that’s what I do with my mom. Hanggang ngayon na nagtatrabaho na, hindi na kami nakatira sa isang bahay but in the simplest things hanggang dun sa malalaking bagay, siya pa rin yung pipiliin ko.”
