Piolo Pascual and Lovi Poe are excited about their new series ‘Flower of Evil’

Ahead of its June premiere, the official poster for the much awaited Filipino adaptation of hit Korean drama Flower of Evil was unveiled last May 23. Lead cast members Piolo Pascual and Lovi Poe revealed the artwork, done by artist Justin Besana, during the press conference.

Piolo, who already starred in the Filipino version of Lovers in Paris, is excited to make his comeback with this drama. During the pandemic, the actor had been watching Korean dramas and revealed that he had watched Flower of Evil. He admitted that after watching the show, he felt like it was the right fit for him and instantly fell in love with it.

“When this was pitched to me, it was during the pandemic and I was just really excited to get out of the house to work, to do something. Right away, hindi ko na talaga siya pinag-isipan,” he shared.

Lovi, who has been a big time fan of K-dramas, was also excited when she was offered the role. Working with Piolo for almost six months has been an inspiring time for the actress as she saw a different side of the actor.

“Now I get it why everyone is raving about Piolo. I always wanted to work with him because of his body of work, and his body,” the actress joked.

“He sets his mind on taking care of himself. The energy he gives me in every scene, nadadala na ako. Gift ‘yun sa isang actor, ‘yung madaling makaramdam ng emotions,” she added.

Both actors acknowledged the pressure of making an adaptation but they don’t dwell on it much. They would rather use it as an inspiration to do better. They can’t wait for the viewers to see the Pinoy adaptation and are excited to hear the feedback.

“I think pressure is always good because with that pressure, we create something beautiful. With a touch of our own emotions, we created something amazing, at ginawan siya ng pusong Pilipino," Lovi shared.

Piolo agreed with the actress. “You have to create your own. At the end of the day, it is about coming up with something new. The way we adapt it is very Filipino," he added.

Flower of Evil follows the thrilling story of a man who successfully changes his identity in order to hide his scandalous past. He then marries a police detective, who will later on be tasked with investigating an unsolved serial murder case that will lead her back to him.
