After returning to the country last year after an almost two-year stay in Australia, Anne Curtis said she is now ready to get back into showbiz via her upcoming one-night only concert Luv-Anne: The Comeback happening on June 11.
“I’m doing well. Finally coming out of hibernation. But also very, very excited pero sobra din akong kinakabahan actually. Because it’s been so long since I last performed. I think it’s been mga four years since I actually performed. It’s been two years naman since I’ve done anything to do with the entertainment industry.
“Kasi as a lot of you know I’ve been a full-time mom for the past two years. I think things will slowly go back to normal din kahit papano. Slowly it’s starting to go back,” she shared during the Luv-Anne mediacon last May 25.
Anne admitted that she had been considering doing the concert since last year but knew she wasn’t ready to do events yet.
“Sobra akong excited at kinakabahan! The truth is, lagi akong mag-de-desisyon na sige tuloy na natin, tapos ay huwag muna, hindi pa pala ako ready. Parang it was a constant battle within me.
“Ang tagal na nitong pinitch sa akin ng Viva, pagdating ko pa lang, which is a year ago. Tapos ngayon lang siya matutuloy. Kasi kunwari biglang dadami yung cases (COVID), parang ako takot muna ako bilang I have a baby.
“So parang it was a lot of preparation for me, I think, of being able to be ready to be on stage again. But I think that’s what’s great about this concert. Kasi it’s really a kick-off party of a comeback. Na parang ito na, I’m ready na to start working again, to go about my passions again, which is of course acting eventually along the way. So I think it’s just really a great way to kick off a comeback,” she admitted.
When the project was first pitched to her, Anne said it was only supposed to a digital concert.
“I think one of the great things about Luv-Anne was that originally it was supposed to be a digital concert. So what we had in mind, we were able to transition into a live performance. So just imagine the ideas and concept behind that.
“Alongside that, we have two of the top stylists in the country, Liz Uy and Pam Quinones collaborating. So may mga palaban din na mga costumes. I’ve also missed dressing up much. So aside from the amazing production numbers, it’s a fashion show as always.
“When this was conceptualized, it was right when I came back from Australia. This was last year pa so parang it made sense to do an online concert back then because everyone was at home. And then more so pa kasi another lockdown happened. But I wasn’t sure if kaya ko na bang kumanta?
“It took a long time until eventually things started opening up. Parang people were going out na so there was a sense of normalcy. So they asked me, ‘Are you ready to do a live concert?’ I said, ‘Ha? Parang hindi pa ako sure.’” she said.
The returning It’s Showtime host shared that it took a visit to the concert venue to convince her now is the right time to do a live concert.
“So I visited Resorts World. I sat on the stage. Tiningnan ko muna kung kaya ko siya. And when I got there naman, parang na-feel ko na kaya ko siya kasi it’s an intimate setting. I felt that it was the right amount of people that I could be comfortable performing live with and I feel like it’s a great way to reintroduce this world to me.
“Like I said I’ve been in hibernation. I’ve been a hermit crab. So this is a great way for me to really quick start and prepare myself to start this journey again. That’s why we decided to go live na lang. Na-miss ko na rin ang energy at mga ngiti ng tao. That’s why I let the nervousness go and I said okay let’s do this. It turned into excitement of doing a live concert again,” she added.
Apart from being backed by a powerhouse team led by director Paolo Valenciano, musical director Louie Ocampo and creative director Georcelle Dapat-Sy, Anne revealed they have an exciting lineup of surprise guests as well.
“There’s a lot of new faces na hindi ko pa nakaka-duet. So yun yung dapat abangan. That’ something new we’re also bringing to the people, guests na hindi ko pa nakakasama,” she revealed.
