Hidilyn Diaz took to social media to share her journey leading to the 2022 Southeast Asian Games held in Vietnam.

Hidilyn bagged the gold medal in the women's 55kg competition at this year's SEA Games.

In an Instagram post, Hidilyn got candid about the anxiety she felt at the start of the year due to her weight gain.

In her post, she also revealed the reason why she continues to weightlift despite many telling her that she no longer needs to compete following her Olympic gold.

Hidilyn remarked that her win at the SEA Games is a testament that she can still compete as a weightlifter.

She also extended her gratitude to her team, headed by her fiancé and coach Julius Naranjo.

She also thanked her physical therapist, her yoga coach, and the different organizations who supported not only her but also the other Filipino athletes.

Meanwhile, Julius also took to social media to share his reflections after Hidilyn won the SEA Games gold medal with him as the head coach.

"This was it, we brought home the bacon. My first win as head coach for #TeamHD . I can’t say it was a walk in the park. It’s been 10 months since @hidilyndiaz had stepped on an international platform. I was probably the youngest head coach in the back room and there’s definitely a lot of pressure as so many naysayers about my age, lack of experience, nationality, and the fact that she was already elite when I started coaching her, but I didn’t let it stop me from being at my best," he remarked.

He added, "Again the goal is to secure the medal, then go for the record. This is how it came together, this was what made the best sense for us. We did this for God, and the country  and we hope at the very least, we represented to the best of our abilities."
