ABS-CBN on the passing of Susan Roces: ‘We will continue to honor her legacy’

Following the passing of Susan Roces, ABS-CBN has issued a statement extending its condolences to her family and paying tribute to the film icon.

"The ABS-CBN family and the entire cast and crew of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano led by Coco Martin deeply mourn the passing of legendary actress Ms. Susan Roces," the media company said in the statement.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to Sen. Grace Poe and her family," ABS-CBN added.


ABS-CBN also paid tribute to the actress saying, "For many years, she has instilled the values of love, faith, and hope with her loving portrayal of Lola Flora in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Tita Susan was an exemplary icon, who was a source of inspiration and strength as she served the Filipino people.

"We will continue to honor her legacy as the Queen of Philippine Movies and as one of the beloved pillars of the entertainment industry. Hindi ka namin malilimutan, Tita Susan. Maraming salamat at paalam, aming mahal na Kapamilya," ABS-CBN added.

Susan's passing was confirmed by her daughter, Sen. Grace Poe, on Friday, May 20 via social media post.

"With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved Jesusa Sonora Poe, whom many of you know as Susan Roces," Grace said in the post.

"She passed away peacefully on a Friday evening, May 20, 2022, surrounded by love and warmth, with her daughter Grace, her nephews Joseph and Jeffrey and many of her family and close friends. The late actress was regarded as "The Queen of Philippine Movies" having starred in more than 130 movies.

Her films include Mga Bituin ng Kinabukasan, Debutante, Mundo Man ay Magunaw, and Mano Po 2: My Home, among others.

She starred in the television adaptation of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, which is based on her late husband, Fernardo Poe' Jr.'s 1997 film of the same title.

Susan was part of FPJ's Ang Probinsyano since 2015. She played the role of Lola Flora.
