After starring their first film Sakaling Maging Tayo in 2019, Elisse Joson and McCoy De Leon followed it up with another romantic drama in the latest Vivamax romance Habangbuhay. Elisse admitted she admires her character’s very positive mindset. She plays the role of Bea, a sickly girl who grew up in an overly protective family and who falls for a boy and asks him to fight for their love.
“Si Bea kasi very upbeat siyang tao. I think kahit ano pang pinagdadaanan niya, ang taas niya lagi yung positivity niya and yung energy niya. In reality parang gusto ko magkaroon ng ganung aspect. Na even though I’m going through something, maganda lang lagi yung aura and energy,” she shared during the Habangbuhay mediacon.
After McCoy signed up with the Viva Artists Agency in 2020, Elisse shared why she was not afraid for the future of their love team onscreen despite being under with different management companies.
“Para sa akin during that time, nagsabi din naman si McCoy ng decision niya and naisip ko na lang, at that time kung anong best for him na decision to make, su-support lang ako. Pagdating sa projects namin na together, sabi namin kung magkakaroon, magkakaroon yan. Hindi naman hadlang yun. Na nasa ibang management or ibang network kasi from the past din madami na tayong nakita na people can work with each other even from different sides of the world, even different networks. Hindi naman kami nawalan ng pag-asa na mangyayari yun. So it finally happened and we’re so happy na dito nangyari yun sa Habangbuhay,” she explained.
Apart from being together in real life and having their baby daughter Felize arrive last year, Elisse said she and her partner are both open to being paired with other people.
“Lagi naming pinag-uusapan ni McCoy na when it comes to projects, kapag maganda yung binigay na materyal, story-wise, character-wise, lagi naming i-ko-consider and ang difference lang ngayon we have to consult each other kasi meron na nga kaming baby and we’re starting our family. Yun lang yung difference pero we tell each other na open kami lalo na kung growth naman namin bilang actors yun. Sa akin ganun. Lagi naming pinag-uusapan,” she said.
For those McLisse fans who will watch their film online, Elisse shared what they can learn from the romantic drama.
“Ang main lesson naman talaga dito is papahalagahan yung bawat araw na meron ka. Kahit maliliit na simpleng araw lang na wala namang big event, papahalagahan niya and ma-appreciate niya kung ano yung nasa harapan niya. Siguro yun yung takeaway na gusto kong makuha niya,” she added.
