During the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 coronation night, titleholder Beatrice Luigi Gomez appeared on stage wearing a black suit––a first for the Miss Universe Philippines. The audience was delighted to see Beatrice breaking stereotypes and making a bold statement during her tribute segment.

To balance her black suit, Beatrice paired it with bright pink heels, designed by Jojo Bragais, that were easily seen due to the perfect cut of her trousers.

Francis Libiran took to his Instagram account to show pride in his creation, with the caption, “Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez (@beatriceluigigmz) is an androgynous stunner wearing #FrancisLibiranBespoke in wool brocade.”

In her tribute segment, hosts Pia Wurtzbach, Demi-Leigh Tebow, and Iris Mittenaere, who are all Miss Universe titleholders, asked Beatrice what she’ll be doing after her stint as Miss Universe Philippines.

“I will still definitely continue my community work, but other than that, I will pursue my other dreams,” Beatrice said.

"I would like to continue and go back to school, get my master's [degree] and take up social psychology. And hopefully, after that, I will be able to build a career in hosting,” she added.

The 27-year-old beauty queen also shared her experience in the Miss Universe competition. She shared that she made great memories and met new friends including Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu, who was invited as one of the judges for Miss Universe Philippines.

With her wearing the suit in her tribute segment, Beatrice made history in local pageantry. Just last year, she was the first in the pageant’s history to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, identifying as bisexual.

In her Miss Universe stint, Beatrice concluded her run in the Top 5 of the competition—the highest spot since Catriona Gray’s 2018 win. Beatrice ended her reign as Miss Universe Philippines and the crown was passed on to Miss Pasay, Celeste Cortesi.
