Miss Universe queens Pia Wurtzbach, Iris Mittenaere, and Demi-Leigh Tebow recently gathered together to promote a good cause: to raise awareness about cleft lips and cleft palates.

The three beauty queens, who were in Manila recently for the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 coronation night, met with the beneficiaries of Smile Train, a large cleft-focused organization, under the care of its partner Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. (NCFPI) before hosting the said beauty pageant that took place on Saturday, April 30.

“Smile Train is grateful for the unwavering support given by the Miss Universe queens and the Miss Universe Organization. The impact they have globally and their genuine compassion towards our patients are vital to further our cause. With their support, we hope to reach more patients and families so that we can continue to provide them with the care that they need,” said Smile Train Southeast Asia Vice President Kimmy Coseteng-Flaviano.

Apart from the three Miss Universe queens present, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, who became a global ambassador of the cleft charity in 2020, has previously expressed support for the advocacies of Smile Train. In 2021, she flew to Kenya, Africa to meet cleft care beneficiaries.

"Treating one child's cleft doesn't just transform that one life. It transforms the life of the parents, the family, and the community,” she wrote in one of her Instagram posts about the occasion.
