Britney Spears revealed that she has suffered a miscarriage.
The singer took to Instagram to share the news.
"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent," the 40-year-old pop star posted.
Britney remarked that amid the challenging time, love is giving her and her fiancé Sam Asghari the strength to carry on.
"Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however, we were overly excited to share the good news. Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family," she stated.
The singer then extended her gratitude to her followers and asked for privacy during the difficult moment in their lives.
"We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment," she wrote.
Friends and fans of the couple expressed their message of support via social media.
"I’m so sorry for your loss sis. Always here for you. Sending you so much love Love you lots B ," Paris Hilton commented.
"Sending love, light and strength to you both," one fan said.
"Thank you for sharing this experience and normalizing it. So many of us have experienced this loss and it’s important to be able to talk about it. I’m sorry for your loss," another netizen commented.
It was in April when Britney announced that she was pregnant with her first child with Sam.
"I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back… I thought 'Geez … what happened to my stomach ???' My husband said 'No you’re food pregnant silly!!!' So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well… I am having a baby… 4 days later I got a little more food pregnant. It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there… I might just lose it," she posted back on April 12.
On the same day in April, Sam took to social media to pen a message about fatherhood.
"Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don't take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do," he wrote.
Britney's pregnancy came months after her conservatorship was terminated in November 2021.
The said conservatorship removed the singer's power to make decisions about her finances, career, and personal life. Jamie Spears and other co-conservators made decisions for Britney under the conservatorship since 2008.
During a court hearing in June 2021, Britney stressed that the conservatorship prevented her from having another baby.
"I have an IUD in my body right now that won't let me have a baby and my conservators won't let me go to the doctor to take it out. I want to be able to get married and have a baby," she said in court last year.
"I deserve to have a life. I worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two- to three-year break and do what I need to do. I feel ganged up, I felt left out and I feel alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anyone does by having a child and a family. Any of those things," she added.
Britney has two children named Sean and Jayden with her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
