Charo Santos hosts new show ‘Shine On Overseas Pinoy’ on The Filipino Channel

Aside from hosting the longest running drama anthology in the Philippines <a href='https://ent.abs-cbn.com/maalaalamokaya' target='_blank'>Maalaala Mo Kaya</a>, Charo Santos takes on another meaningful project this year as the host of a 13-episode program called Shine On Overseas Pinoy, where OFWs share their stories with the veteran host on how they overcame adversities in life and the importance of securing financial/ health/ education/ retirement plans. During the Shine On Overseas Pinoy virtual conference last May 12, Charo shared how the idea for the show first came to her.“Last year, we had Sun Life mount an event with overseas Filipino workers. This was an opportunity for the Sun Life advisors to have a chat with our OFW kababayans from other parts of the globe.“And since pandemic nga and mahirap ang face-to-face na pakikipag-usap, naisip ko lang, why doesn’t Sun Life partner with The Filipino Channel and create a show where we will have the opportunity to listen to some of the stories of our kababayans and how they learned about financial management from their partners in life who are their Sun Life advisors?“So itong show nga na ito ang naging resulta nito. Financial management, ano yan? Parang numbers lang nakikita natin.“But actually ito ang tamang pamamahala ng ating pananalapi. Ano ba ang gagawin natin sa assets natin?“Ang unang asset natin, lalo na tayong mga ordinaryong mamamayan, ay ang ating suweldo na inuuwi natin sa ating trabaho. Dapat alam natin mag-budget, na alam natin ang ating gagastusin, alam natin ang expenses natin, at magkano ang maaari nating itabi para sa savings.“Ngayon, ang savings na yun, ano ang puwede nating gawin para yung savings na yun ay lumawak? Kasi karamihan naman ng mga kababayan natin ay talagang naghahanap ng matinong trabaho, nag-uuwi ng suweldo, at nangangarap ng mas magandang buhay para sa kanila at sa mga mahal nila sa buhay.“Pero wala silang tools eh. Hindi nabibigyan ng tamang edukasyon at tools kung papano sila mamahala sa kanilang kinikita.“So napaka-importante talaga ng role na ginagampanan ng Sun Life na talagang ipinapamahagi nila ang kanilang kaalaman sa ating mga kababayan para matuto sila na unang una, to live within their means, mag-ipon, at papano i-ma-manage yung inipon nila.“Kasi karamihan sa mga kababayan na nakausap ko, yung unang suweldo nila, dahil galing nga sila sa hirao ng buhay, minsan napupunta talaga sa luho,” she said. Shine On Overseas Pinoy is a 13-episode show is hosted by Charo Santos and will premiere on May 14, 2022 on TFC Cable and Satellite, IPTV and iWantTFC.
