"Proud of you David."

These were the words of Karen Davila as her son David, who has autism, voted for the first time in the recent national elections.

"What a milestone! David, now 20 years old, voted for the first time," she shared in an Instagram post.

The ABS-CBN broadcaster shared that it was David who actually said that he wanted to vote.

"Let me share with you this story. A few weeks ago, David texted me and asked, ‘Mom, am I registered to vote?’ I was surprised that it mattered to him! Thank God, @djstaana registered him and he got very excited," Karen shared.

"DJ and I went thru sample ballots with David, explained to him what the candidates stood for and helped him with his list. Yesterday, he stood in line with his dad for 4 HOURS to VOTE," she added.

Karen remarked that she is proud of her son for being concerned about the nation.

"As a mom of a special child, it makes me SO GRATEFUL and HAPPY that David is aware, concerned and very present in the moment! Kids in the Autism Spectrum can live better lives if parents intervene early! As a parent, this is the best gift we can give them!" she said.

"Love you David   You make me so happy! Proud of you anak!" she added.

Karen's followers also expressed their admiration for David.

"Wow! Good job David   And good job to you Karen and DJ  for a job well done," one netizen commented.
