Various Kapamilya and Kapuso stars expressed their awe and delight over the recently announced ABS-CBN and GMA partnership.
In the said partnership, Star Cinema films will start airing on GMA's local channels.
"Wow, talaga namang it’s a new era, 'di ba? Congratulations sa ating dalawa," ABS-CBN broadcaster Karen Davila said after the news of the partnership aired on TV Patrol. "Sa Star Cinema and GMA," Bernadette Sembrano added during the evening newscast.
FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano star John Arcilla also reacted to the partnership. In an Instagram post, he said, "May this partnership bring the ‘fan-thinkings’ to a new level. That everyone can be friends for the better and for everyone’s advantage. That there is no point of hating each other since the people we’re trying to fight for can actually agree and befriend each other."
Other Kapamilya stars who reacted to the partnership were Kakai Bautista who commented on Star Cinema Advertising and Promotions Director Mico Del Rosario's Instagram post about the partnership and My Papa Pi star Pepe Herrera who reposted the news of the partnership on his Instagram Stories.
Meanwhile, former Kapamilya Kim Atienza posted on Instagram, "The force field is broken. GMA X ABS-CBN! The beginning of many beautiful things to come! The Lord works in mysterious ways!"
GMA star Eugene Domingo also shared a reaction to the news by sharing the "Hello, Kapuso. Love, Kapamilya" post of Star Cinema on her Instagram stories. The actress said, "Nice work!"
Other Kapuso stars who also rejoiced about the news were Sofia Pablo, Bianca Umali, and Jeric Gonzales who reacted to GMA First VP for Program Management Joey Abacan's Instagram post.
It was on April 5 when ABS-CBN and GMA announced the partnership via a virtual signing event.
“Every storyteller’s dream is to have as many people as possible experience their creations. Now, because of the kindness of our friends at GMA, we have the special opportunity to bring our Kapamilya stories to a new audience,” ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak said about the partnership.
“We hope the Kapusos find joy and inspiration in viewing our Star Cinema movies. And we also look forward to a new era of friendship and cooperation within our small industry. Maraming salamat kay chairman Gozon, Jimmy, Philip, Joel, Annette and all our friends at GMA for making this partnership happen,” he added.
Meanwhile, GMA-7 President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. remarked, "To us, we are very pleased because the significance of our partnership today ushers in possibility of a far broader set of conversations, potential partnerships and cooperation that will have the benefit not only mutually to GMA and ABS-CBN but as importantly, if not perhaps more importantly, to the benefit of the public we both serve – the Filipino viewer."
