BGYO member Akira Morishita remarked that he did not expect that he would bag an acting project months after he debuted in the P-Pop group.

Akira is currently starring in the iWant series Bola Bola alongside Francine Diaz, KD Estrada, and Ashton Salvador.

"Hindi kapani-paniwala po kasi 'yun nga ang daming nangyari last year sa BGYO and hindi ko na-imagine na magkakaroon ako ng chance na umarte ng ganito kaaga po. Ang nasa isip ko baka after ng contract pa or ilang years pa bago ulit makapag-acting at 'yun nga po nabigyan ako ng chance na maging part po ng isang series and super happy po kasi nagtiwala sila sa akin, and sinuputrohan po nila ako, 'yung buong BGYO po, even 'yung BINI po full support sila. Sobrang thankful po na may ganoong tao sa paligid," he said in an interview with Star Magic Inside News.

Akira admitted that he felt pressured upon getting the role in the series.

Kinakabahan ako kasi baka masigawan ako dito kapag nagkamali ako," he admitted.

Akira first made his acting debut in Sundalong Kanin in 2014. He starred in Alienasyon in the same year. He also played a role in All Of Me in 2015 and Tol in 2019.

As he returns to the acting scene again, Akira relayed that he first felt awkward during his first Zoom meetings with the cast members.

But when they started their lock-in taping, Akira felt immediately at ease with his co-stars.

Kahit off-cam po very humble po and welcoming pong tao.

The BGYO member also extended his gratitude to those who expressed their support for him and Francine.

"Very thankful po ako sa mga naging supporters po namin kasi nakikita ko po dumadami sila, 'yung Frankira (their fan group) po especially, yung nagpapatrending. 'Yung support po na binigay nila sa amin, 'yung love na bibinigay nila sa amin, sobrang nakakataba po ng puso. and ang dami pong edits din na nakakatawa so nawawala yung stress," he said.

Akira debuted in BGYO in 2021 under Star Magic. They released their first single "The Light" on January 29 last year.

Akira plays the role of Lucas in Bola Bola, Thea's (Francine) long-time crush in the story.

Bola Bola premiered on iWantTFC on March 26.
