As the singer behind the theme song behind the teleserye The Broken Marriage Vow, Jona said she is excited to be one of the featured performers at the show’s mini-digital concert The Broken Playlist happening online on April 29.

“Sobrang grateful ako kasi itong song na ‘Tinatapos Ko Na’ galing ito sa Himig Handog 2018 tapos naging first theme song siya ng Philippine airing of The World of the Married dito sa atin. Tapos sobrang masaya din sa pakiramdam na itong song na ito napunta pa rin dito sa Philippine adaptation naman ng The Broken Marriage Vow. So I’m very happy naman na at least naging parte pa ito. Nakakadagdag sa emosyon, sa gigil, or sa pagkalugmok ng feelings sa mga scenes sa The Broken Marriage Vow. Kaya naman grateful ako kasi napapakinggan pa rin ng mga tao gabi gabi yung boses ko through this platform,” she said during The Broken Playlist mediacon last April 26.

The Broken Marriage Vow OST singer said she has been preparing herself both physically and emotionally for her online performance this Friday, April 29.

“Siyempre during the performance, talagang i-internalize mo lang talaga kung ano yung message na kino-convey ng kanta. Yun lang mostly yung parang preparation for me bilang hindi naman kasi ito madugong madugong performance talaga. Medyo easy lang for me yung naging preparation. Kailangan lang natin talaga ng malalim na hugot para ma-perform natin talaga yung kanta,” she admitted.

The 32-year-old singer also shared how she believes a show’s soundtrack plays a big part in enhancing the emotions in every scene in the series.

“Para kasi sa akin, ang pagiging singer-performer ay pagiging actor din. And you are using your voice to project the emotions na kailangan para dun sa lyrics ng kanta. Siyempre when you’re singing brokenhearted songs, siyempre i-tu-tune mo boses mo para papaiyakin mo siya, and then pag kakantahin mo naman mga romantic or happy love songs, siyempre iba din naman ang gagawin mong atake dun. Napakahalaga din nitong mga theme songs na ‘to na mailagay sa teleseryes or sa mga movies para ma-enhance yung eksena or yung emotions na gusto natin i-convey as a whole sa audience. For me yun yung pinaka-important na role ng isang singer na mailagay niya yung tamang emotions at mai-deliver niya through her voice yung hinihingi na emotion ng kanta,” she explained.

With her song now one of the most requested song on the airwaves, Jona explained what makes it standout from other songs about heartbreak.

“Ang masasabi kong difference ng song na ito sa iba sa playlist, kahit yung topic ng song na ito ay pagiging brokenhearted, pero in the end nandun yung hope na sana matapos na ito and ako na yung tumatapos sa sitwasyon na ‘to kasi gusto ko ng maka-move on, gusto ko na sumaya, matapos ng phase ng kalungkutan at kapighatian na naramdaman ng puso ko.

“Another thing that separates this song is medyo chill lang yung song na ‘to, wala siyang birit or belting part. Talagang nung ni-record namin yung song na ‘to, gusto lang namin iparamdam yung puso ng kanta mula umpisa hanggang dulo. So dalawa yung nabibigay na emotions nag song na ’to. Yung first part is pinaparamdam mo na talagang nasaktan ka sa lahat ng pangyayari. Pero towards the end, nandun naman yung mensahe na being hopeful and wanting to move forward. Nandun yung feeling of empowerment na ikaw naman ang mag-de-desisyon sa sarili mo na mag-move on para sumaya naman,” she shared.

Jona revealed it’s been a while since she has experienced heartbreak. As an animal lover and rescuer, the avid animal advocate reveals what her pets have taught her about love.

“Sobrang tagal na nung last heartbreak ko. As in super years years years back. Ang nagagawa sa akin ng pag rescue ng stray animals is na-o-open pa yung puso ko, mas lumalaki yung heart ko to care and to love unconditionally. Yun yung nai-a-apply ko para sa future na magging partner or jowa or mapapangasawa. Yun yung lessons na mababaon ko is to love unconditionally talaga. Nakakalaki ng puso yung pag-aalaga ng mga rescue animals,” she said.

During The Broken Playlist mediacon, Jona also revealed which The Broken Marriage Vow character she can relate to the most.

“Siyempre yung character ni Jodi (Sta. Maria) na si Dr. Jill. Sobrang fearless niya talaga at napakamabuti niyang ina. Kasi kahit nagkaka-problema silang mag-asawa, eh gusto pa rin niya na i-secure or i-assure yung anak niya na everything will be alright. Yung minsan kahit out of control na talaga yung mga pangyayari, still inuuna pa rin niya yung mararamdaman ng anak niya. Talagang palaban yung character. I hope yun yung ma-embody ng mga napaghihinaan ng loob especially mga kababaihan. Na pag talagang sobra na talaga, I think we need to fight back na rin. Kasi hindi effective yung palagi ka na lang silent or nagpapaapi. Nabasa ko lang ito sa social media na kapag tatahimik ka lang at wala kang gagawin, you’re on the side of the oppressor. Importante talaga to speak up and fight back kapag kinakailangan na talaga. Ipaglaban ang pamilya at pagmamahalan. Hindi puwedeng humantong sa pagiging broken family. Ilaban natin hangga’t kaya natin,” she added.
