Singer Anji Salvacion is looking forward to inspiring more fans in her first ever digital concert The Feels Concert happening on April 30 at 8 pm. During her concert mediacon last April 20, the 19-year-old singer from Siargao shared her favorite advice from her fellow housemates during her stint on Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10 celebrity edition which ended earlier this year.
As a showbiz newcomer, Anji said she values all the advice she has received ever since she joined the industry, with some of the most recent advice coming from her fellow housemates.
“Yung kay Ate Alyssa (Valdez) nung nasa Bahay ni Kuya pa ‘to, sabi niya sa akin, ‘Make the bashers or negativity as a noise. Those noises, make them your stepping stone towards achieving your dreams.’ So no matter how harsh or how hurtful na the words that they’re throwing at you, see it from a positive perspective where it will help you gain more confidence and to achieve your dreams more.
“Si Ate Sam (Bernardo) sabi niya, ‘Anji, magpapakatotoo ka lang sa sarili mo kasi in this industry mahirap din talaga. Kasi once you’re true and once you’re just being yourself, hindi ka mahihirapan and you don’t have to please people.’ Madami talaga akong natutunan sa kanilang lahat. I’m just so glad that they helped me.
“Si kuya Albie (Casino) told me din always to choose my happiness and do whatever makes me happy na hindi nakakasakit ng ibang tao,” she shared.
Even Big Brother himself also gave Anji some words of wisdom during her stay inside PBB.
“From Kuya, kasi in this career and industry that I’m taking right now, mahirap din especially if you don’t love yourself. He told me na dapat mahalin mo talaga sarili mo. Kasi if you don’t love yourself, ikaw din ang mahihirapan. And it will be hard for you to give that love and care to others,” she added.
Aside from her colleagues in the industry, Anji also values the advice from her parents while growing up as well from a veteran singer she looks up to on ASAP.
“My dad told me to never give up on the things that you dream of and the things that you love. Sa second naman yung sa mom ko, is to always have perseverance, hard work, and determination. Kasi maaabot mo ng maaabot mo yung mga pangarap mo if you have this. I remembered din sir Martin (Nievera) the concert king sabi niya when we were like the newbies pa sa ASAP, sabi niya, ‘What are you doing here? Why are you performing?’ Sabi ko, ‘Because I love this. I love singing and I love performing. I love to entertain people with my performance.’ And sabi niya, ‘That’s a good answer. Don’t do something that you feel that you don’t love. Kasi mapapagod ka.’ Grabe yun. Tumatak din yun sa isip ko na you should really do something that you love. That was a very good career advice that I received from sir Martin,” she recalled.
