Kapamilya star Kim Chiu undoubtedly had the most amazing time when she visited Thailand for a vacation with her boyfriend Xian Lim. 

Perhaps one of the most interesting parts of her trip was the ice-cold bath where she plunged into ice-cold water with a temperature of 55°F or about 12.778°C.


Kim tried the ice-cold bath at Amanpuri, a luxury resort in Phuket, Thailand.

“Ice ice baby!!!!! COLD PLUNGE at 55degF for 2mins!!!” she wrote in the caption. 

In the same post, Kim revealed she had to soak her body for about two minutes. 

While it appears to be challenging, Kim said it’s all mind over matter in order to finish the two-minute soak.

“Mind over matter! Focus and concentration at their finest!!!! Love the benefits it can do to our bodies,” she remarked. 

But what exactly are the benefits of this supposedly therapeutic cold water immersion (CWI) practice, also known as cryotherapy. 

According to Healthline, one of its benefits is the easing of sore and aching muscles and helping the central nervous system.

Among those who usually try the ice-cold bath are athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and weekend warriors.
