Last March 29, R&B singer Jay R fulfilled one of his dreams by performing the US national anthem “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Crypto.com Arena (formerly known as the Staples Center) in Los Angeles, California before the start of a game between NBA teams Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz. “Twas an honor to represent the Philippines for Filipino Heritage Night for the NBA. I hope I made all the Filipinos in the house proud,” he shared in an Instagram post before his performance. “I’m kind of nervous and I’m kind of not because we’re ready. this is what we live for,” he added while preparing for the game.
Sharing his experience in his YouTube channel in a video called “I actually sang the National Anthem at an NBA game,” the 40-year-old singer said it was a dream come true for him to perform the national anthem in public for the first time. Before his performance, Jay R was introduced as being born in Glendale, California, and an international recording artist known as the Philippines’ King of R&B.
