As the release of their romantic comedy series 2 Good 2 Be True draws nearer each week, lead stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo could not contain their excitement while talking about their latest project which will be shown on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, TV5, The Filipino Channel as well as the global streaming platform Netflix starting next month.
“Actually just last month when tita Cory (Vidanes) talked to us and then sinabi na niya sa amin na mapapanuod nga ng tao not just on free TV but also on Netflix, yun pa lang wow that’s a first for us. It’s very special and we are very grateful na nabigyan kami ng ganitong platform para mas marami pang makapanuod within everything that’s happened especially last year. we’re very grateful of course to Netflix for giving us this new platform and the opportunity to share this beautiful project with everyone. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa nag-si-sink in na ang galing noh na slowly nakikipag-partner ang ABS-CBN sa mga international platforms as well just to reach more audiences and nakaka-proud yun. And sana magtuloy-tuloy. Na maging simula ito to open more doors sa company,” Kath said during Netflix’s 2 Good 2 Be True event earlier this month.
In their new series, DJ and Kath play the role of Eloy and Ali, two people both broken by the complications of love in their parents’ lives, and who found their way into each other’s arms, but are constantly being pulled back because of the doubts in their hearts until they find out that their lives are more connected than they realize.
During the 2 Good 2 Be True event, the real-life couple also revealed the moments that they believe are too good to be true in their lives right now. DJ revealed it is his enduring and highly successful love team partnership with Kath.
“Imagine after ten years of kami, yung partnership namin nandito pa rin kami at patuloy na gumagawa ng teleserye. This is too good to be true,” he said.
Kath admitted she still finds it hard to believe how devoted Kathniel fans are even after a decade of them being a love team. “Siguro every time may nakakausap ako na fan. May nakasama akong isang nagtatrabaho sa production and then she told me nung 16 pa lang siya fan na siya and now she’s working. Sabi niya, ‘Sorry po hindi na active yung iba kasi nga yung ibang fans they’re working na, yung iba may baby na, naka-graduate na.’ So parang sabi ko too good to be true na sabi niya, ‘Mahal pa rin namin kayo. Sinu-support pa rin namin kayo.’ Parang too good to be true na meron kaming na-build na ganitong mga fans and supporters namin na they’re more than just fans. Ngayon working na sila, yung iba may anak na, na too good to be true to have these kinds of people na hanggang ngayon sinusuportahan kami at kahit may sarili na silang buhay nandiyan pa rin sila to support us. Naghihintay lang sila silently cheering for us. Sa fandom naman yung sinasabi ko. Too good to be true to have this kind of fandom, they’re the best,” she added.
