Coming off the success of the first season of the teen-oriented series He’s into Her last year, director Chad Vidanes revealed what was the biggest challenge for him while working on the second season of the series based on the popular Wattpad books.

“Well sobrang challenging yung pressure na ma-meet namin yung expectations of readers of the book itself na ma-i-portray namin yung characters in the story in a way na how they imagined it while they were reading it. Though we veered away from the story of the book, but the essence of the book and values nandun pa rin siya. Yung pressure lang siyempre na how do we make the readers appreciate the series as well kasi it’s a whole community,” he said.

Another challenge for the kapamilya director was to make each member of the cast shine as more of their story arcs are introduced this year.

“By opening different kinds of plots and issues ng limang friends and not only for Deib and Max, we get to tackle more issues that people will get to relate to. The compatibility of Naih and Lee (played by Criza Taa and Joao Constancia), the compatibility of Deib and Max, and siyempre meron tayong ex-best friend na ex-boyfriend na hindi ma-let go let go. Hindi naman lahat ng issues ng love and life na-tackle namin but more or less, almost everyone can relate to it. Kasi even myself, while shooting it, pag isa isa ko silang pinapasok as a millennial, nakaka-relate pa din ako sa kanila. I sometimes get to the point na I use my personal experiences to help motivate them to understand the stories and the emotion that they need to give. Very relatable talaga siya kasi madaming ma-ta-tackle na issues with love life and family.

“So the challenge was to meet the expectations and bring out the potential in these actors. Kasi we made this season in a way to show the potential of each and every character. It was a challenge for me na mailabas namin na nag-grow talaga sila as an actor and an actress. To be honest, this season na-push ko yung limit ko eh, emotionally and mentally. Kasi it wasn’t a joke. Lahat ng pinagdadaanan ng each character, pinagdadaanan ko din. So medyo kagulo na ako (laughs),” he said,” he admitted.

For his current project, direk Chad said that he made sure to give each cast member some personalized direction.

“I motivate my actors in a way to get to know them more and know what makes them tick, what’s their personality. So kumbaga same personality sila with the characters and if not, we’ll still use it in a different way. Para kasing sa season na ito sobrang daming emotional scenes. So sobrang drained yung dalawa. Sometimes madaling araw na, we’re still taking heavy scenes. So siyempre they’re exhausted but we have to push through. So talagang pinu-push ko sila para malabas natin yung message na gusto natin sa kuwentong ito,” he explained.
