After her Premier Volleyball League (PVL) victory last week when her team Creamline Cool Smashers beat the Petro Gazz Angels to clinch the PVL title, Alyssa Valdez headed off to Sao Paolo, Brazil along with the other members of the national women’s volleyball team for their training camp abroad last April 12.
Sports reporter Dyan Castillejo shared an update on her Instagram account before Alyssa and her team took their flight out of the country Tuesday night. She wrote, “ALL SET! The Philippine Women's Volleyball team to fly to Barueri, Brazil tonight for their 15-day training camp in preparation for the Hanoi SEA Games !
“The team is led by captain Aby Marano, veterans Alyssa Valdez and Jaja Santiago, Iris Tolenada, Kyle Negrito, Kath Arado, Dawn Macandili, Dell Palomata, Ria Meneses, Ces Molina, Kat Tolentino, Jema Galanza, Mylene Paat, and Majoy Baron. High school stars Jelai Gajero and Casiey Dongallo also included.

After a 12-hour flight, the team had an eight-hour layover in Istanbul, Turkey. Then they took another 13-hour flight to reach their destination in Brazil.
As one of the country’s most well-loved athletes, Alyssa became one of the top two housemates during the last season of Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity Season 10 Celebrity edition which ended last January. The 28-year-old volleyball star was also one of the most popular housemates during her stint inside the house, having never been nominated for eviction during her stay in PBB.
