Even before he joined Pinoy Big Brother Otso in 2018, Sky Quizon said he has always been passionate about acting. The 24-year-old actor takes on his heaviest role yet as one of the stars in Maalaala Mo Kaya’s episode featuring the life story of the Villadares brothers this coming April 2.

“I think yung passion naging force of habit. Ever since I was a kid, high school, college, talagang I see to it that when I do something, especially something that I love, I do it more than my 100%. So talagang lagi kong ini-indulge ang excellence. Laging dapat ganun. Minsan I’m too hard sa sarili ko pero I see to it na dapat hindi mediocre yung ginagawa ko. Na magigihng proud yung parents ko, yung mom ko, sa ginagawa ko,” he shared during the MMK mediacon.

After winning Cast A Star last year which won him a lead role in ABS-CBN’s longest running drama anthology, Sky thanked his supporters for the opportunity.

“Actually I’m so thankful to my family, to my supporters, sila yung nagdala sa akin to have a lead role and to do an MMK. Kasi di ba pag nag-MMK ka artista ka? It’s heavy drama so parang mapapakita mo yung kagalingan mo in a story. Tapos you’re able to tell stories of real people. I feel blessed and lucky that I’m able to star in an MMK episode tapos yung kuwento pa ang ganda. It’s about family. Hindi lang ng tatlong magkakapatid na lalake, any family na may kapatid ka na mahal mo yung nanay, tatay, or yung nag-aruga sa ‘yo like dito si lola. So it’s about showing that love na meron sa isang pamilya,” he explained.

Sky explained what makes his preparation for MMK different from his most recent project Viral Scandal.

“As actors, we prepare talaga ahead of time characterization and we read the script. Ito talaga yung first lead ko sa MMK. You’re giving life to a story. It’s the same idea of giving life to a person that some viewers may relate to. Pagka-send actually sa akin nung script, binasa ko na ng buo and then I started to build kung sino ba yung character ko and asked questions anchored on research. Kung paano mag-prepare with other series and materials, ganun din pero ito anchored on facts. May certain limits kasi totoong tao yung ginagampanan mo and meron silang totoong pangyayari and yung liberty mo merong konting limit para mas makatotohanan yung pag-deliver,” he said.
