Several celebrities joined people around the world in celebrating International Women's Day, which aims to highlight the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and to promote gender equality and women empowerment.

Actresses Lovi Poe and Agot Isidrio, television host Bianca Gonzalez, and singer Geneva Cruz were among those who celebrated the special event through social media this Tuesday, March 8.

"Hey Woman, do a twirl cause it’s your day. Let’s reshape how we see ourselves. Proudly tell your story, and don’t let anyone call you this or that. BE YOUR OWN WOMAN and YOU DO YOU cause everyone else is taken," said Lovi in her post.

For her part, Agot shared a short poem by American writer Clarissa Pinkole Estes from her book Women who Run with the Wolves. It reads:

"I hope you will go out and let stories happen to you,
and that you will work them,
water them with your blood and tears
and laughter till they bloom,
till you yourself burst into bloom."

Meanwhile, Bianca dedicated a post to her two daughters, Lucia and Carmen, reminding them of their worth and their ability to succeed in life despite the difficulties and challenges they might face as women.

"Today is a beautiful reminder that I have the honor and responsibility to raise my daughters to believe that they are worthy and valuable just as they are, that they are capable and have every right to pursue what they want in life, and that they shouldn't listen to anyone who thinks they 'can't' because they are 'just' girls. BABAE KA, hindi BABAE LANG. Happy #InternationalWomensDay to all the powerful women reading this," she said.
