With ABS-CBN experiencing challenging times not just because of the ongoing pandemic but also because of its franchise denial in 2020, the network has gone through many changes including the decision of some of its talents to switch networks during the past two years, like John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo in 2021. As the head of the kapamilya network’s talent management arm Star Magic, Lauren Dyogi said he is moving forward and focusing on the talents who chose to stay instead.
“Unang una, I would always respect the decision of every individual kasi hindi ko naman hawak yung buhay ng bawat isa sa kanila. They made decisions based on their life circumstances. Hindi ko maku-kuwestiyon yun. Kung may pangangailangan sila or meron silang mga plano sa buhay nila na sa tingin nila hindi maibibigay ng ABS-CBN at Star Magic then that’s their option.
“But I’d also like to say na para sa akin, mas importante yung mga kasama ko ngayon dito. I don’t like to even spend my energy and my time thinking about the people who left because they’ve decided to move on and do something else. I’d like to pour my energy and my focus and my love to the ones who are here. Kasi yun naman ang importante eh. Yung kasama mo ngayon sa hirap at ginhawa. The loss of the franchise gave us a lot of insight into what’s important in our lives and who are the people who are also important and who values that relationship. So yun lang muna yung tinitingnan ko,” he said.
Direk Lauren clarified that his doors are still open to the possibility of them all working together again.
“In the future I can’t say. Sino ba tayo? We don’t know what’s there in the future. Maliit lang naman nag industriya ng entertainment so hindi ako nagsasalita ng tapos na it’s for good na never ulit magkakasama. But for now, ABS-CBN and Star Magic will focus on the artists who decided to stay and be with us and journey with us and commit to be part of this very interesting and very challenging times. Pero alam natin na pagkatapos nito, I think we’ve gone through the worst already. Panahon na kami and exciting times are just ahead,” he admitted.
During Star Magic’s 30th anniversary launch even Kapamilya Strong, the veteran director shared more words of wisdom for those planning to build a career in showbiz and warned about it not being all glitz and glamor.
“Totoo pangarap, puhunan, lagi naman natin sinasabi yan. Isipin niyo ang pangarap laging may kalakip na hard work. Hindi ka puwedeng mangarap na dapat hindi ka magtrabaho. If I see their social media kung paano nila alagaan yung katawan nila, hindi po yan vanity. That’s keeping themselves fit and healthy kasi they know pagsabak nila sa trabaho kailangan yung stamina nila, yun endurance nila, kailangan buo yun. So hindi lang yan pagpapa-pogi or pagpapaganda or ano. They know their models to the future and these are the tricks and the requirements that they need to survive the industry. Sundan niyo lang po yang mga yan.
“Ang unang una mababait sila. Lahat sila mababait na tao. Tama kung nasaan yung puso nila. Ang dami nilang tinutulungang tao from their community to their family, yun yung serbisyong binibigay nila and they’re so generous to share of themselves and their blessings. Kaya nandito pa sila after 25, 16 years. Kailangan pagtiyagaan, paghirapan, passion, tamang lugar ang puso mo hindi lang ito para sumikat ang nasa utak mo kundi ang pagmamahal mo sa ginagawa mo. Hindi ka tatagal kung hindi mo mahal yung ginagawa mo,” he explained.
With Pinoy Big Brother’s regular season currently ongoing, direk Lauren refused to take sole credit for the reality show’s enduring popularity.
“At the top of my head, definitely the men and women na nagtatrabaho sa PBB. Our production team, our creative team, the crew, sila ang nagtaguyod niyan and continuously reinventing the format. Itong mga taong ito hindi matatawaran ang kanilang kakayahan at dedikasyon sa pagtaguyod ng PBB. At the same time, the housemates definitely. Actually PBB is about the housemates. Sila ang nag-bi-build ng connection sa mga tao. Kung wala sila, wala namang interesadong manhunuod ng PBB. And also I would say our hosts because sila yung naghahatid ng kuwento sa ating mga manunuod. And of course ang lahat ng ating mga kapamilya at manunod na sumusuporta sa programa. Yan yung mga ingredients kaya I guess patuloy ang format na ‘to. And also, a recent progress because of the partnership with kumu. So yun din, kung di rin dahil sa kumu hindi rin naman natin nakita ang PBB during the pandemic. So thank you to our partners,” he added.
