Taylor Swift will receive an honorary degree from New York University.

According to the statement released by NYU, the global pop star will be given the title Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa. Taylor will join the university's class of 2022 during their commencement exercises in the morning on May 18 at Yankee Stadium.

The singer-songwriter will also deliver a speech at the ceremony.

"I cannot overstate how thrilled I am to be coming together in person with graduates, parents, faculty, and honorees for NYU’s Commencement. Since 2019, we have been deprived of Commencement’s festive, communal joy, and its absence has been keenly felt,” NYU President Andrew Hamilton said in a statement.

He added, "We reconvene at Yankee Stadium with a renewed sense of appreciation for the act of celebrating together in person, a recognition of our graduates’ enormous achievements, and a respect for their character and perseverance."

Last January, New York University's Clive Davis Institute launched a course on Taylor Swift, which continued until March.

According to a report by Variety, Rolling Stone's Britanny Spanos taught the course and covered various topics such as Taylor's evolution as an artist and her legacy as a songwriter, among others.

"I’ve been covering Taylor Swift since I began my writing career a decade ago and have been a super fan of hers for even longer. It’s such an honor to be able to share my Swiftie expertise with a sharp group of students," Britanny told Variety.
