Karen Davila took to social media to pay a special tribute to TV Patrol as the news program celebrated its 35th year.
On her Instagram page, Karen shared a throwback photo of the first anchors of the evening news program alongside a photo showing the anchors today.
"35 YEARS of #TVPatrol 🇵🇭 #OnThisDay, March 2, 1987 was the pilot broadcast of what was to be the Philippines’ most iconic newscast," she posted on social media on Wednesday, March 2.
According to the broadcaster, she was still a teenager when the news program first aired on television.
"I was only 16 years old when TV Patrol first aired on ABS-CBN and now, 35 years later, I am here anchoring the newscast. I first co-anchored TV Patrol 2004-2010 but it has become more meaningful to be with the program at this time in ABS-CBN’s history," she stated.
Karen remarked that she is honored to be part of the program.
"Ano man ang mangyari, itinuturing kong isang malaking karangalan na maging bahagi ng programang ito at ng ABS-CBN News," she said.
"Always, in the service of the Filipino 🇵🇭 Salamat sa love guys! Sa hirap at ginhawa nandyan kayo," she added.
In October 2021, Karen returned as the news anchor of TV Patrol following the departure of Noli de Castro from the program who was at that time planning to run for a political seat.
"I am back after 11 years. Grateful to those who have come before us. Through the brightest days and darkest times… nandito pa rin kami, nagbago lang ang mga bantay pero matibay pa rin ang TV Patrol dahil po sa inyo. We will see this through. Proud to be part of the @tvpatrolph team 🇵🇭 Thank you Lord," she posted last October upon her return to the news program.
TV Patrol airs from Monday to Friday at 6:30 pm online via the ABS-CBN News YouTube Channel and on cable and satellite television via ANC and TeleRadyo.
