“Kumbaga pamilya na ‘to eh so parang kung may nangyari sa bahay mo or kunwari hindi kayo nakapagbayad ng rent sa bahay niyo, hindi naman kayo maghihiwalay bilang pamilya di ba? Sama sama pa rin kayo eh. Malalapagpasan niyo yun na magkasama. Lilipat kayo ng bahay pero magkasama pa rin kayo. Hindi kayo maghihiwalay. You stick together at dun ma-te-test talaga yung resilience niyo bilang pamilya. And mas masarap lang pag nakabalik na. Mas close kayo, mas bonded kayo, mas strong, kapamilya strong,” he shared.

As more actors join the industry each year, Gerald said that he is not fazed by the growing competition.

“Personally medyo competitive ako na tao eh. I’m very competitive and kaya rin ako nakatagal ng 16 years sa industriya na ito is because of that trait. Sa kokonti lang ng mga shows na naipapalabas or naibibigay sa isang taon, ang dami naming mga artista. We’re all fighting for roles and shows. Competitive kami sa isa’t isa. We’re in a very competitive industry and when you get to find friends and mga contemporaries mo na kausap mo about life, kung anong status mo ngayon sa buhay, kung anong pinagdadaanan namin. Halos lahat din kami sabay sabay nagsimula. Ang biggest competitor mo is yung sarili mo talaga. Isa sa pinaka-natutunan ko over the years is sarili mo talaga yung biggest competitor mo,” he explained.
