Unlike his The Seniors co-stars Julia Barretto and Awra Briguela who studied high school in the country, actor Gab Lagman went to school abroad.

“I went to high school in Las Vegas and I was playing basketball so I was an athlete. And at the same time, I was really good friends with everyone. Because once you’re an athlete you do community service and stuff. Yung pinaka tini-treasure ko at pinaka-memorable yung friendship na nagawa ko sa high school, yung mga kaibigan ko kahit they’re in Vegas, I still keep in touch with them. They’re still my best friends kasi sila yung unang naging kaibigan ko.

“Importante kasi sa akin yung pagkakaibigan and alam kong totoo sila sa akin and even before pa ako mag-artista magkakaibigan na kami. At saka yung mga memories at nagawa namin na pagbabakasyon, yung mga pagtutulungan like yung best friend mo mababa, kailangan mo tulungan pataas ‘di ba? Yun yung pinkaka-tini-treasure ko at pinaka-memorable sa akin,” he shared during The Seniors mediacon.

The 26-year-old actor and former nursing student first signed up as a Viva artist over five years ago and has not looked back since then. As part of the new Vivamax teen-oriented series The Seniors, Gab gets to relive his high school days. He counts prom night as one of the craziest memories from that time in his life.

“Siguro prom because it was our last year and we just rented a house and then araw pa yun ni Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Mayweather so parang it was just a crazy night. Siguro yung hindi ko lang na-experience sa high school is simple lang naman, nag-da-drive kasi ako ng stick shift dito sa show na ‘to and never ako nag-drive ng stick, first time ko,” he recalled.

With The Seniors tackling issues like bullying and getting through difficult teenage years, Gab shared his advice to those who feel they are being bullied.

“Dapat di mo dinadamdam and always ask for help. Kasi once you have a strong backbone na mga kaibigan mo, malalagpasan mo rin yan eh. Stand up for yourself and always ask for help kasi hindi lang ikaw ang nakakaranas nito. Nakakaranas lahat ng mga tao sa mundo nito,” he shared.

If there was an important lesson he learned during high school, Gab said it was to be appreciative of the prese

“Just treasure every moment because life is very short and you only live once. And always count your blessings. Naaalala ko pa yung sinasabi ng big brother ng best friend ko kasi when we were in high school gusto na namin lumaki, gusto na namin tumanda at maging matured. Pero he always told us, ‘Enjoy your high school years because mabilis lang yung panahon. Pag tumanda ka na, mami-miss mo yung pagiging bata. Mami-miss mo yung pagiging free lang sa mundo kasi pag tumanda ka na marami ka ng iisipin.’ Yun siguro yung lagi sa akin tumatatak. Kasi parang sobrang bilis ng panahon especially nag-pandemic pa. Treasure your friendships talaga kung sino yung mga t

The Seniors actor also gave some advice about life in general during the show’s media launch.

“Don’t be afraid to take risks in your life because ayaw mong pagsisihan yun siguro in the latter part. Pero of course education is important and for me I want to make my parents proud. So even though na-stop rin ako sa school, I still have plans to go back. Pero yung one thing na tumatatak sa akin siguro sa advice ko sa dad ko is don’t be afraid to take risks,” he said.

Created by directors Antoinette Jadaone and Dan Villegas, watch The Seniors exclusively on Vivamax. Starring Julia Barretto, Ella Cruz, Awra Briguela, Andre Yllana, Gab Lagman, and introducing Andrea Babierra.  Directed by Shaira Advincula.
