After joining Squad Plus last year, KD Estrada has come a long way from being the shy teen singer who first entered the Pinoy Big Brother house as the “Musical Wonder Boy of Parañaque.”

“It was overwhelming at first kasi when I got out of the house ang daming information na linayag sa akin. But right now parang I’m slowly processing all of this and feeling great. In Bola Bola, my character’s name is Julian and Julian is the long-time best friend of Thea (played by Francine Diaz). And for the longest time, Julian has had feelings for Thea but hindi niya talaga maamin. And we just see how their relationship progresses throughout the story,” he said during his Bola Bola mediacon event last March 18.

With his new iWantTFC series dealing with issues like body shaming and self-love, KD revealed that he can relate to the characters because of his own personal struggles in the past.

“As someone who is just regaining their confidence, I remember last year yung self-confidence ko below zero. I couldn’t even get myself to look at the mirror, yung ganyan. Slowly, I’m healing from that. I’m slowly getting out of that and learning how to love myself. You just have to take it day by day. One of the biggest things that caused it is social media. Kasi you tend to compare yourself to people. ‘Bakit ganito yung katawan ko? Bakit ang bagal ng progress even if I work out for months?’ mga ganyan. Sometimes people just have chemical imbalance in their brain and that’s not a problem. That’s normal and that’s nothing to be ashamed about. You can always ask for help. If you really feel na kailangan mo ng tulong, you can always open up to people. You can always reach out. I’m getting there,” he shared.

The Bola Bola actor said no one should be made to feel ashamed for admitting that they have insecurities and other issues.

“Kasi body shaming nowadays yung mga tao always online tapos palagi natin nakikita online na ang daming posts ng daring photos and people tend to compare their bodies to that body. But the truth is not everyone can look that way. And you just have to accept yourself for who you are. Putting that high of a standard is unrealistic talaga. But I wouldn’t say that you can’t achieve it or wala yan. The fact that you compare yourself to other types of bodies when it’s possible that your body type is super different from the one you’re comparing it to, it just sucks lang talaga. It’s good na may mga models ngayon na plus size. I’m super happy about that because we get to celebrate all different types of bodies. Yung pagmamahal sa sarili, it’s not that simple. May steps talaga yan. And sometimes yung steps, you have to go through a lot of pain. Pero sa dulo it’s going to be worth it kasi siyempre when you feel that you love yourself, when you feel na tanggap mo na yung sarili mo, you’ll feel like you’re at the top of the world,” he explained.
