Actress-singer Geneva Cruz has paid tribute to her late mother anew, this time with her new tattoo.
On Instagram on Thursday, March 17, the former Smokey Mountain member revealed that she had the word "mama" inked on her right arm, in honor of her late mom who passed away last year due to COVID-19.
She got the tattoo with her younger sister Eliza, who also had their mother's name inked on her body.
"In honor of our mother. If LOVE could have saved you, Mama, you would have lived forever. I miss you so, so much. I wish people could realize the importance of a mother’s love while still living in this lifetime. I’ll do anything to hug you again, but I hope your pure love brings joy to people up in heaven, too, just like it did when you were here. I love you forever and always," said Geneva.
Just last August, Geneva also penned a heartfelt message for her mother as she marked her first day in heaven.
In her post, the "Sinungaling" singer thanked her mother for teaching her what unconditional love means and for showing her how to become a great parent.
"Mama, you told me that I've grown so much over the years and that you are proud of who I have become. You loved me even when I was lost, misunderstood, and perceived as a crazy woman by people who wanted me to fail; and loved me the same when I became an emotionally responsible, self-assured, and more intelligent version of myself who speaks her truth and knows what she wants," she said.
"There was never a day when you weren’t there for me, thank you for teaching me what unconditional love means through actions, and because of that, I'm able to show my children that same kind of love."
Geneva said she hopes to emulate the good qualities of her mother and continue to make her proud even after she has passed away.
"Mama, the magnitude of your love will never be forgotten, from your selflessness to your generosity; you had a beauty that shone from the inside out. As your child, I hope to reflect that in everything I do, and each day I sincerely thank God for you. Every hint of you reminds me that I am one of the luckiest daughters ever," she said.
"Life has gone on without you, but it'll never be the same," she added. "I remain and forever will be your mini-me, I promise to make you prouder each day as I reach the dreams you weren’t able to achieve for the family. I love you so very much."
