When she first found out she would be paired with actor Joshua Colet in the new iWantTFC series The Goodbye Girl, Elisse Joson said she was happy that they would finally be working together after starting out in the industry at the same time. In “The Legally Blind” episode of the new digital series, Elisse plays the role of bride-to-be Julia who tries to remain hopeful even after finding out that her fiancé Ean (Joshua) has been cheating on her.

“Matagal na kaming magkakilala ni Joshua. When we were starting, magkasama na kami sa workshops and all. And then ngayon nga lang kami nagkatrabaho which is nice kasi since matagal na nga kami magkakilala, madami lang ang naging flow. Nagkamustahan kami. Sa set there was no kapaan. Lahat kasi ng nandun sa set, everybody was so maalaga and friendly. Si direk Derick (Cabrido) magaan siya katrabaho and he was very clear about instructing. Pero he also gave us the freedom to just do our own thing,” she shared during The Goodbye Girl mediacon.

The 26-year-old actress said the universal theme of love and relationships made it easier for her to portray her role without having to rely on personal experience.

“Depende kasi talaga sa anong kailangan sa eksena. So sometimes when I feel like I can use my personal experience, I would use it to my advantage. And sometimes kung matagal na kasi yung experience na yun, ang hirap na ipa-resurface. So sometimes it doesn’t work. Pag ganun, I’ll use other methods that I can para magawa yung eksena. Pero totoo naman na nagagamit yung personal experience and maganda pag nagamit talaga,” she explained.

For those who might relate to her character who is blind to love, Elisse shared some relationship advice.

“Ang logical na explanation na naiisip ko lang kasi parang we love through our heart. So minsan hindi na nagagamit talaga yung mata natin. For the ladies and also for the men who go through the same thing that my character went through, madaling sabihin na umalis ka na lang kung hindi ka pinapahalagahan pero mahirap gawin. I know that there’s always a better love kung hindi ka naman pinapahalagahan kung saan ka ngayon. Very cliche but even if you’re not in a relationship or you are in one, it is better to start with loving yourself talaga. Yun lang,” she said.

Currently happy and in love with boyfriend McCoy De Leon with whom she has a baby daughter named Felize, Elisse revealed how they usually celebrate Valentine’s day every year.

“Siyempre I feel like meron akong sariling way to make him feel special and sana siya din meron (laughs). I can’t share much because what we do for Valentine’s is we don’t really plan it na alam namin pareho. We have our own secret planning. I look forward to spending time with him lang. Kahit ano naman ang maplano namin, I just really look forward to the time together kasi iba pa rin yung kayong dalawa now that we have a kid,” she admitted.
