As part of the new iWantTFC Original series The Goodbye Girl, Maris Racal stars in the episode The Bitter Hopia where she plays the role of Ria, a woman who seems to be getting mixed signals in her casual relationship with band member Caio (played by Rico Blanco). The 24-year-old actress admitted she had to adjust to acting with her real life boyfriend.
“At first it felt really strange to be working with Rico on the same set. Kasi sanay ako sa kanya as him and like hindi ako sanay na umaarte siya na ibang tao or nag-a-acting siya. Inisip ko, ‘Parang hindi ko ‘to boyfriend (laughs).’ Parang ganun yung feeling. But ganun lang siguro sa mga first scenes na na-shoot namin pero nung nag-tuloy-tuloy na, comfortable na ako. Super comfortable ako. Kaya masaya ang magjowa pag nasa set sila. Kasi masaya kasi andiyan yung boyfriend nila. Okay ganito pala kasaya yun. Ngayon na meron na akong ka-eksena na boyfriend ko that makes me very happy,” she said during The Goodbye Girl mediacon held last February 2.
Maris also shared that it was her decision to keep their relationship a secret until she revealed it during a media event in May last year.
“Ever since uncomfortable talaga ako pag-usapan yung mga relationship kasi hindi ako sanay so we kept it a secret yung relationship namin kasi honestly hindi pa talaga ako ready. And then yung time na I think I’m ready na, I think ready na ako i-post si Rico and all, nakalimutan ko yung press and yung questions. So after ko mag-post nun and then I had mga presscon for MMK (Maalaala Mo Kaya), nakalimutan ko na itatanong ako nun. So nung natanong ako for the first time about relationships since like forever, yung kaba ko parang hindi ko ma-contain kasi ito yung pressure ko dati. So siguro yung mga tanong na kinakabahan ako is like, ‘Paano nag-start?’ mga ganun. Kasi hindi talaga ako comfortable sabihin yung mga important details and sometimes there are things na gusto ko i-keep as private. I don’t know. Like time will come na comfortable na ako sabihin,” she explained.
After working on their first acting project together, Maris revealed what new discovery she learned about her boyfriend while on the set.
“Sa taping na ‘to na-discover ko kay Rico he’s so chill. Ako kasi sobrang organized ko sa mga eksena. Kapag may tini-take na ako I know na what I’m going to take next and pag may nangyaring mali parang ma-se-stress ako pag nag-change ng plans. Ganun ako. Si Rico sobrang chill niya pala pag nag-te-taping. Ang saya nito ka-tandem kasi nadadamay ako sa pagka-chill niya,” she recalled.
After The Goodbye Girl, Maris said she and Rico look forward to getting the opportunity to acting together again in the future.
“Yes open naman kami. I think napapag-usapan namin ni Rico yun na what is mas mahaba na na taping, kakayanin kaya natin ito and all? Masasanay ba tayo sa taping life? Kasi sanay kami na nasa labas talaga yung trabaho and puro lang kami music. So meron din kaming mga kinatatakutan pero I think nung nangyari yung The Goodbye Girl nawala lahat yun. Like sobrang comfortable pala katrabaho si Rico,” she added.
